sweet potato pie.

and they don't need much sugar if you do 'em that way -- orange peel, ginger, cinnamon, a bit of brown sugar plus a couple of eggs to lighten. mmm. No I have no idea of how much of anything ... i just toss.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Slice in half-inch slices--if the tuber is more than 1.5 inches diameter, slice in half lengthwise first. You need chunks about an inch to an inch and a half by a half-inch thick. Melt a little (actual, unsalted) butter in a nonstick pan, add sweet potato slices, stir and cook till edges are just browned. Sprinkle with ground ginger, black pepper, and dill weed. Add a tiny bit of water and cover, reduce heat to steam for four to six minutes, until slices are fork tender. Serve.

call me jacki; zuisa is an internet nick from ancient times =)

Okay, so, I feel bad for plunging into your lovely and well-established thread to be like HELLO I'M NEW because I can clearly see that you all are quite the close community and probably don't need any silly newbies running about, but here I am.

I'm not sure how I never stumbled across this website before? But there was a link to the FAQ about the BBoC on a Television Without Pity Vampire Diaries recap (don't judge, please, I am clearly just a sucker for vampires) and I ended up reading the whole FAQ and laughing a whole bunch and so here I am.

Carry on!

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Welcome zuisa!

I made some sweet potatoes recently that went over well-- baked in the oven until soft, skins removed, mashed with lime juice. Low fat and went well under fish.

For any ingredient you are stuck with, always look at epicurious, I'm pretty sure I found the idea there.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Welcome, zuisa!

My simple approach to sweet potatoes is to cut them into chunks, pour some orange juice over them and cook covered until they're soft (oven or stovetop).

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

hey, zuisa!

Come on in, the water's fine, and we're pretty nice.

ETA: and is the map right? Are you all the way over in north-of-Mongolia-land? Are you GENGHIS KHAN? (Because that would be really cool. Especially considering he's dead and all.)

ION, the painkillers have OMG helped with the side of my face and neck, and sleeping with the TMJ contraption is, indeed, possible. For a couple of hours at least, but I woke up with a bad earworm.

Um. I've just been awakened by a fire truck stopping outside my window. Firemen came into my building, but I haven't seen or heard anything beyond the loud engine and really bright lights.

And they're gone. No idea what that was about. I wish I'd been asleep for more than a hour, but I'm glad I didn't have to try to wrangle the cats for an evacuation.
