A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

That's not right, msbelle!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I love all the Chicago stuff they`ve been doing to support the Blackhawks! It`s great to see the city getting behind the team when they`ve struggled for so long.

Yes, Erin, leaf mold and earthworms are garden porn.

The city of Chicago has dyed the fountain at Daley Center red in honor of the Black Hawks making it to the Stanley Cup--looks gruesomely wonderful!

It looks like a sign of the apocalypse.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Does anyone want to give a blog post a once over? It's going to a copy editor so it doesn't have to be perfect. I just want to know if it sounds fine and not completely stupid, because I seem to have a case of that today.

information libertarian

Jesse, I gave a presentation at a conference Friday, and not only was I not introduced, there was nobody official in the room to start the session. I stood up and said, "well, I guess we should get started" and introduced myself and my co-presenter.

It really made me come away with a bad feeling about the whole damn thing.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Netflix was recommending me Doctor Who: The Curse of Fenric.

Ooh, that's a good one. Seventh Doctor at his scheming best, Ace pushing the role, a willingness to pursue more mature storylines. Plus, a distinctly creepy environmental message. (Oh, and vampires!)

So, I should keep some of it, to dump on the places I planted seeds? And for when I plant some basil and other herbs, which I would like to do later this week?

Yes, you can top dress where you planted seeds with a thin layer, and the soil will be better for the earthworms. Pile about four inches on top of the new bed and mix it into the top 8 inches or so. It will add nutrients and loosen the soil.

Compassionately intolerant

Stuff I've done today:

Finally, after 9 phone calls, 5 of which featured Verizon hanging up on me, I have clarified (with 3, count them 3, different agencies) just exactly now much I owe, despite one 'final bill' that read -0- and one final bill that said I am owed 34.95, due to an overpayment. Turns out, neither of these documents is in the possession of the collection agency to whom I was reported for an amount that appears on not one single piece of paper I have ever received from Verizon. yeah. Argh.

Playing Marley's "No Woman No Cry" in the background really helped me get through this travail. Thanks Bob.

Moving of to Jimmy Cliff's "I can see clearly now" to tackle the Red Cross minion who doesn't seem in a hurry to follow up on the training director's promise to get me into instructor training before the year ends!

Plus, 3 awesome people sessions and booking a doggy lama session for the weekend...which will also feature my first same sex wedding officiating.

Whoo! How is it that I get so much more done when I have so much to do?!
