I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

So I cannot get a mortgage or a home equity loan because I have been self-employed for less than 2 years. Getting a part-time job will not help either situations, but if I got a full-time job I could get a HEL in possibly 1 day after employment and a mortgage in possibly 2 weeks. Full-time employment is not any more secure than the other 2. makes no sense. F them, I am going to make this work, because I do not want a full-time job yet.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Does anyone else in their late-30s or older remember the Walk for Mankind fundraiser marathon walks back in the 1970s? I was just talking to a coworker who is freaking out over doing her first 10K run Thanksgiving week, and mentioned doing the Walk for Mankind in junior high in the late '70s. It was a 20 mile walk, usually finished in 6-8 hours by me and whomever I was walking with, and raised money for a charity called Project Concern, which I believe was with the Jaycees.

When I googled it, I only got a few hits, surprisingly enough. I thought it was a big national thing, but maybe not?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't know how it's pronounced, but it doesn't make any difference to me. Astronomer's wife can pronounce her name pretty much how she wants, and he can name stuff after her all day long. It's perfectly cromulent.

Yes! I can get COBRA for two days. Or a month. Whichever. Must get that in the mail by Monday.

Scariest American haunted houses. Normally I'd think I wouldn't be impressed by haunted houses. Now I'm just thinking I wouldn't want to freak myself out. #1 sounds particularly horrible, and the one that takes an hour to get through? Or the one where you have a teeny flashlight and have to wend your way out? No sirree bob.

Cold, cranky, want to go home. Suddenly my post-work mall plans look hazy and distant.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yes! I can get COBRA for two days. Or a month. Whichever. Must get that in the mail by Monday.

That's great.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Good news, ita.

I'm doing a 5k next month for the first time in yonks. Would probably be a good idea to start, I don't know, running.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Just reading about those haunted houses makes me kind of queasy.

I can't believe I'm celebrating a $550 outlay, but it's a $1500 savings, so you know, I'll take it.

Lady with the name that sounds like mine is leaving today. I feel bad that I'm happy to have my homophone space back again. She was never anything other than nice.

OMFG, saw the most beautiful lady with the most beautiful baby in TJ's today. To the point where I wonder if she parthenothingified. There was no indication sperm had anything to do with that procreation. They were spitting images of each other's beauty. Lordie.

I remember them, and I seem to remember walking in a few of them in San Diego with my church youth group.

I agree with this so hard. Sometimes I wonder if I didn't work in improv as long as I did just because it was the surest way to make sure I was never involved in audience participation.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

I agree with this so hard.

Oh my god, I *loathe* that shit. I pay good money for my live entertainment, and for that money I intend to remain on MY SIDE OF THE FOURTH WALL.
