A date of note--it's been a year since a Chicago alderman has been indicted!!

Yep, it's 365 days and counting since a Chicago alderman was indicted (Isaac Carothers on May 28, 2009). I think our city council deserves a round of applause.

The modern era record for an indictment-free city council is 17 months, 13 days during 1956-57. That excludes, of course, those dark days of World War II when so many eager beaver prosecutors were off fighting the Nazis. I have confidence in these men & women. I really believe they can break that old record and would advise setting 20 months, 11 days as the over/under line.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

OMG, y'all. This week is going to go by soooooo sloooowwwwlllyyyy. I don't have students (they graduated last week), but I still have to come every day this week and a half day on Monday. My room only needs so much cleaning. I'm already getting bored.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

It's very hard to get the brain going today.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm already getting bored.

Can you maybe find some aldermen who need to be indicted?

I could work on that.

Oh! and, because our district filters a TON of web sites, I can't access YouTube or TED Talks to do homework. (I'm taking a class on Cognition and Technology that uses a bunch of those videos.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It's very hard to get the brain going today.

Indeed. And most of the other things I could do require stuff from other people. Stuff that I could do on partial brain-power, I mean.
