We killed a homeless man on this bench. Me and Dru. Those were good times. You know, he begged for mercy, and you know, that only made her bite harder.

Because books.

There's no reason to wear a watch any more, what will cell phones and all, but I can't stop.

I have to wear my watch. I freak if I forget it.

brillig

With a watch, time is just a turn of the wrist and a glance away. With a phone, you've got to find the phone, then look at it. And since I have an analog watch, I can check the configuration of the hands to let me know what time segment I'm in without having to translate the numbers into time segment.

Why, yes, I am still very much an analog girl.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Given how small some of the cellphones are -- particularly the flip styles -- I'm surprised somebody hasn't come up with more "covers" that could turn them into wristwatches.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I need a sleek leather coat. I realize I live in Arizona, but still. So today I'm trying to figure out what coat I need to carry on the plane for Ohio this weekend. I am thinking only my light shirt-coat, as I'll have sweaters and turtlenecks I can layer if necessary. It'll be in the 70's here when I leave, 90's when I get to Phoenix. But high 60's in Zanesville and 50's in Warren (lake effect, dontchaknow). But I really hate lugging a big winter coat on the plane, plus I'm trying to go carryon only, backpack and knitting bag.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I like having a big clunky metal wristwatch, as it seems much more potentially useful for self defense than my tiny, mostly plastic cellphone that I'd have to fish out of a pocket.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

The lack of public clocks in my office make me want to wear a watch again, but I am so far out of the habit. I have no idea what time it is when I'm in meetings, and it makes me nuts.

I auditioned and sang and didn't even throw up! And, I was on key the whole time! And, after much deliberation, I got the part I wanted.

Hooray!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I need to get a watch for flying, but it's been so long since I wore one regularly that I never remember to pick one up. I usually have a computer screen, phone, or other clock to hand, and I hate having things on my wrists.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You may just have to, as if in Rome (and doing as the Romans do), get some fleece--the official clothing of the greater Metro Vancouver area.

Oh, hells no. ita only buys new clothes for a weekend trip if it means leather or formalwear. So totally definitely not fleece. I do have a short winter jacket, but it's the ugliest thing ever (well, the Russian coat's not lovely, but I love it), but the idea of going on a carefree vacation in it and being all recapture-university (it's my university best friend) feels off.

I don't think I've worn a watch in over a year. Not sure what's so special about today. And it's a big 'un. This face but on an inch plus wide leather strap. So I can't really forget it's there. Mostly I'm fine with the time. It's somewhere around. On the computer. Phone. Cellphone. Car. Wall. Today I guess I'm wearing a red top and I wanted more red. Also I might as well wear the thing before it plows through more batteries. Also, fire. Fire pretty.

What do you intend to do with it?

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

And, after much deliberation, I got the part I wanted.

YAY

ita, do you want me to send you some fleece? I think I even have a black pull over.

I think I'll be good, thanks. I can just do monochrome under the burgundy leather coat.

If I were really talented (or, you know, normal) I'd know which of my colour palette worked well with it, but in my head it's all or nothing.
