Thanks for the Frontera info, guys. I really want to try to do lunch there when I'm in town for my college reunion, but it sounds like we'll need a backup plan at the very least.

Here's where I pimp the Gage on Michigan Ave. as a good alternate.

Oh, someone Bob knows owns that. It is very good!

Ugh I feel craptappity. I did yesterday so I worked from home today and, while I don't feel worse (which is good), I don't actually feel better. bleh. And I made a 7am appointment with my trainer friend tomorrow. Already feel totally guilty and very lazy even thinking about canceling.

Man, y'all are 0good for an ego boost.

You know until a few comments from this haircut, I never thought I had good cheekbones.

Because books.

msbelle, what's the lipstick color? I like that A LOT.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Aww, feel better, lisah.

And yeah, this is why I need, like, a city. That Asian clientele could totally help me. But I don`t have any near me! I`m sure there are great Japanese makeup sites, written by Japanese people. But I definitely don`t think it`s worth it to pursue. There`s one girl that does nail videos that I used for my brows because she`s Asian and awesome and was willing to leave her brows kinda heavy, just clean. I should see if she has an eyeshadow video. I don`t know why I`m so hung up on getting it Right. Getting it to look good should be my goal, and I can tell that.

Anyway, I wore light powder and blush and eyeshadow to teach today, and it looked okay. You could still see my freckles. I guess I should try to figure out lips next. Lips is what I think makes me look like a hoor, but I think I just need to find the right color.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Wow, the makeup conversation is still going on. I may look into some of the Smashbox items mentioned. The mall that has a Sephora is the one I was planning to stop by to see if the Easy Spirit there has black pumps in my size. (I went to a different mall on Saturday and the Easy Spirit there had no dress shoes in my size. Bleah.)

Jessica, if you're looking for alternates to Frontera downtown, I could pimp Prairie Fire.

I'll admit to not eating there yet, but it's a spinoff of Prairie Grass Cafe in Northbrook, which I am a big fan of. Prairie Fire is supposed to be of the same quality and menu as PGC, just aimed more at the corporate clientele of the Loop instead of the family/date clientele of the North Shore. The halibut is amazing, and the pies are legendary (the recipe for their piecrust has been written up in the Tribune).

(Edited to fix link.)

In non-makeup news, I have ordered new glasses, and they are bifocals. In four months I turn 50. I feel old.

I started wearing bifocals two years ago, and I'm 44.

What got me feeling old recently was talking with a classmate in my cataloging class on Saturday. I mentioned that my job might be going away within the year, and how I started working here in 1992. She looked at me and said, "That's when I started preschool."

I. am. ancient.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I have ordered new glasses, and they are bifocals. In four months I turn 50. I feel old.

I need to get bifocals (I have the prescription; just have to pick out glasses). I'm 45, and was told people generally need bifocals when they turn 40.

Connie, did you get the kind with the line on the lenses?
