Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Their kid would have to be Roger Daltrey Christian-Judeo. PhD.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I will attempt to go my entire life without calling my sister Dr. Ourlastname to her face. Because that's my mother. Also, I was never going to call her Miss Ourlastname to her face anyway. Because that's me. And His Excellency is my father.

She is fourth wheel. She doesn't get a title.

Frequently, people who use the phrase "Judeo-Christian" like that remind me of people with PhDs in botany or some other non-medical field who insist on being called "Doctor".

I'm sure you didn't mean this to sound so dismissive, but what you got against calling someone with a doctorate a Doctor? That degree took work.

Full disclosure: I am a PhD and use the title when I'm teaching, but not socially. But I don't see any difference between calling someone Doctor and calling someone Reverend or Father.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Vague recollections of family invitations to balls in Jane Austen novels makes me want to say that you are indeed the only proper Miss Yourlastname and your sister will have to settle for Miss Herfirstname Yourlastname, or maybe just Miss Herfirstname. She does get a "Miss," but only with a first name appended to distinguish her from the senior and proper family Miss, yourself.

Possibly you could also rightly call her Mistress Herfirstname, if you think she won't try to punch you (in which case, you just break her with your pinky and call her Mistress again).

Absolutely. The reason my sister doesn't get that from me is because she's my little sister. Also, I had to listen to her complain throughout her entire doctorate. I get a pass.

the senior and proper family Miss, yourself

if you think she won't try to punch you

She's more than welcome to try.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

My dad has his PhD in sludge. Ok, it is waste management or something like that. But he only whips out the Dr. in professional situations.

FB drama alert - Kelly's ex - the lying cheating douchebag - has reappeared on FB. She noticed because mutual friend had friended him and it showed up on her newsfeed. She called me and it sounded like it had been a gut punch for her. Of course his profile picture has him and a girl.

I told her to block him, just in case, and to remember how much better off she is now. She knows that, intellectually, but this is the first time she has "run into" him since all the crap went down over the summer.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

She SHOULD block him!

But if she wants to find out if the idiot has the same password I volunteer.

No, it wasn't meant as dismissive. I was under the impression (from my father the PhD, and the many friends I have with doctorates, including the fine PhDs here) that insisting on being called "Doctor" socially or in non-professional settings was somewhat tacky in that it gives the incorrect impression of being a medical doctor.
