I've been out of the abbey two days, I've beaten a lawman senseless, I've fallen in with criminals. I watched the captain shoot the man I swore to protect. And I'm not even sure if I think he was wrong.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

I never wear wet foundation or use moisturizer. To this day, I have oily skin and acne. I wear a powder foundation and eye liner. I only use more, like shadow, mascara and blush for special occasions. I never wear lipstick because I have yellow teeth and my lips are naturally kind of maroon. I use a lot of plain old Chapstick.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Wait, they made B:TAS? Or does that not stand for Buffy?

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

Possibly my aversion to foundation is a freckle thing? When I've worn it, I kind of think I look like a wax dummy of myself. Possibly this means I'm doing it wrong, but I find my lack of freckles disturbing.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Luther starts tomorrow.

Week from tomorrow, according to my onscreen guide.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I find my lack of freckles disturbing.

Same here. There's not really any blemish I could cover over that wouldn't also blank my freckles, and then who would I be? They are, despite the fact some people don't notice them, integral to my impression of my face, and my familial resemblance. They help me look like the Moulton branch of my mother's family. It's the only family resemblance we have, and it's pretty pervasive, so I don't give it up lightly.

I have to keep hydrating. I don't want there to be another vein fiasco at the ER tonight. I don't want there to be any kind of fiasco, but this I have some minimal whit of control over. plump up me veins. More juice it is.

You have a point, what with it not being the 17th yet.

Juice!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

The Kevin Aucoin books are good for make-up info. When I do full make-up I do shading I learned from them to make my bone-structure look better than it is.

Seconding this rec. Making Faces is a complete primer on makeup.

Possibly this means I'm doing it wrong, but I find my lack of freckles disturbing.

Maybe you just need a more sheer foundation? It would let natural variations in skin tone - like freckles - show, but even out skintone overall. I don't like that "mask" effect either.

Whew, thought I was missing a special stealth pilot episode or something.

Much hydration and no fiascos for you, ita.

I feel like I have some kind of obligation to moisturize as a woman over 40, but I can't get in the habit. And I tend to forget sunscreen. But I think my face is holding up okay in spite of my neglect.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I was listening to my wayback machine (aka iPod) the other day, and Kris Kross came up.

They'll make you jump, jump.

Mm, Diniverse.

Oh, yeah.

Y'all, I had a burger for dinner tonight that was topped with goat cheese which had dark chocolate shaved into it (the goat cheese, that is), and also topped with mushrooms cooked in a sauce made with stout beer. OMG. SO GOOD. If the chocolate had been sweet, or if the chocolate-to-cheese ratio had been skewed more toward the chocolate side of the ratio, it would have been nasty. But they got it SO RIGHT.

I couldn't have it on a bun, so I wonder if the bun would have made a difference, and I'm thinking surely it had to. I don't know if I would have liked it on a bun.

Hmm. I'm going to go examine my assets in the bathroom right now. I will be back shortly. ::pauses 24:: It would probably make most sense to even out the textures of my face. All smooth or all shiny or all matte. Could take away the dark circles under my eyes, but I'm kinda fond of those, so no rush. Then there is the redness of my nose, which can be distracting, I suppose. No way to get rid of the coin-sized brown patch on my left cheek and its smaller sibling without also spackling over the freckles, and at that point there's nothing left.

Basically, it's entirely not worth it.

I wash my face, I tone my face, I moisturise my face, I wear vaseline on my lips. That's absolutely mandatory. Anything else is soms sort of special occasion. Lipstick for work. Anything more than lipstick means an interview (mascara and brushed eyebrows) or the night (eyeshadow). Still no foundation. I've worn it maybe five times in my very long life.
