Thinking about it, we weren't allowed to wear makeup to high school, so I have absolutely no basis of reference for that. There was one chick in our clique in university who wore a "face" almost all the time (we did look at her funny when she wore no makeup), but other than that, I was probably the most heavily made up with occasional bright lipstick.
It's not like my mother didn't wear it daily, just that it always seemed to be something people older than me did. Never peers. And even now, when I look around the workplace, maybe since I'm in IT, there are a lot of barefaced women.
As for the shaving thing, I know it's a genetic lottery issue. I could pretend I'm making some sort of feminist stance, but honestly, I'm just fine-haired and it bleaches blonde in the sun anyway.
Unrelatedly, I was listening to my wayback machine (aka iPod) the other day, and Kris Kross came up. Wearing your pants backwards? WTF was up with that? Did kids ever follow that trend? I need to find out what happened to those guys. I do remember thinking the light skinned one was kinda cute. However, also kinda 12.

They got killed while drinking Pepsi and Pop Rocks while piloting a helicopter in Vietnam with Mikey and the Beaver.
Damn - what could cause a big bus like that to leave the highway?
IIRC, there's no barrier on that part of LSD, just a curb. A blown tire or a giant pothole could do it.
I don't leave the house without at least a little foundation and mascara, mostly because my skin tone is uneven and it makes me self-conscious.
I bought Brazilian rum while I was out, so I think I'll make myself a caipirinha.

Heh.
I started wearing foundation a couple of years ago, and now I really feel like I look significantly worse without it. Which may or may not be true.
Just remember: Inside out is wickety-wickety-wack.
I had the Kriss Kross album. On cassette tape, actually. My excuse is that I was 11 at the time.

Yeah, but what about the haircut?

My friend Alison argued that foundation was a necessity to protect your skin from pollution in New York. I don't know if it's essential in Boston.
General question: If you had to do just one, would it be lipstick or mascara?

I am Jesse. But for some reason, the really nice skin I had as a teen and young woman went kerfluey in the past ten years, and now I'm just uneven-looking without a little foundation.

FIGHT THE KYRIARCHY!
My skintone is kinda uneven (some random blotching under the freckles), but good lord I'm too lazy to do anything about it.
My god, S1 24 is crack.
I have discovered that the other one in Kris Kross has alopecia. Basically, however, they are boring.

I don't wear much of either, but definitely lipstick. When I wear mascara, my eyelashes get the inside of my glasses dirty. My eyelashes are already dark.
When you say if I had to do just one, do you mean if I had to give up just one, or if I were forced to wear one, which would I prefer?
