I like my current neighborhood too. I'm walking distance from three libraries, my comic book store, my bank, Safeway, CVS, and various eateries on College and Piedmont, not to mention two BART stations and a Trader Joe's if I'm a little more ambitious. But "walking distance" can also mean "short drive."

Google has a sweet John Lennon logo too.
Might have to head out there for Halloween this year and see all their Harry Potter themed houses.
I was thinking of doing that myself. Too bad the new movie is not out yet; they'll still be on HP6.

For that whole neighborhood community thing I think I'd have to go back to the subdivision my folks and I lived in from 1979-1991. Lots of friends next door, carpooling, kids gathering at the local liability risktrampoline, block parties and so forth.
I've never lived anywhere that I even knew my neighbors, after I moved away from home to go to college. I know my current next-door neighbor, but if this weren't a duplex I'm not sure I'd ever have met her.
I really want to know what quasi-legal means in this context. Also, what the suicide risk is about.

Extreme despair over not being able to fuck in public? Sort of a diamond-condom-too-tight problem, IMO.
I don't know any of my neighbors here. The loud upstairs neighbors just moved out. My sense of community comes from the dojo.
My old neighborhood in Alameda was wonderful. Great mix of young families and original homeowners.
I lived in my complex for about 2 years without really knowing anyone but my downstairs neighbor. Then someone had a cookout, and I went over and met a bunch of people. And now, I hang out with them all of the time.
