Saturday night is our annual Block party, which looks to be huge this year. The guy who started the block parties fought spinal cancer for a long time and he died this year, so the party is in his memory. People really loved Mark and we are all hoping to make the event extra special in his honor.
It really shows how a few people can cultivate and foster a community. Here's to ya, Mark!
I totes love my neighborhood--Movie score composers, tax accountants, vintage porn dealers, actors, wine wholesalers, carpenters, cupcake shop owners, retired high school teachers--it's a great mix of ages and ethnicities and backgrounds.
But you've got the nicest landscaping job, right? I know Teppy and sarameg love their neighborhoods too. Anybody else have a love-on for their nabe? What was your favorite neighborhood ever?
What was your favorite neighborhood ever?
a certain waterlogged part of baltimore.
what, is anyone shocked?
Congrats on the closing, msbelle! V. exciting.
Aw, scrappy, that sounds like a great tribute, and a great event!
10/10/10 is when PG&E says my automatic bill payment is supposed to happen. They don't seem to realize it is Sunday, but that is not my problem.
Other than that, watching football and lazing about. Tomorrow I'm doing a tour of historic houses in Martinez with my mom, which will be fun but probably require chatting with strangers on buses and so forth, which is fine but leaves me tired.
my neighborhood does not have that closeness. I think there is more rental property right around me than I thought. Should I come into some money, I may consider starting to buy up properties.
My favorite hood? For Neighborliness: where I lived when in kindergarten. For Love of Place: College or Brooklyn.
On 10/10/10 Sara's going to sing in church with the children's choir, and then we're going on a hayride with bonus bonfire.
But you've got the nicest landscaping job, right?
Like msbelle, my yard is The Nicest.
My neighbors are the awesomest. Seriously, impromptu peppermint schnapps cocoa and roasting marshmallows around the chiminea? How do you beat that? And two of the 5 candidates for mayor, my kids' principal, and the manager of REM live within 1 block of my house.
It's wrong that I want to say, "Owen!", right?
Ha! It's actually from rollergirlskates.com and I know I haven't made an order since July. No record of an order in spite of the $87 gone from my account with their name on it.
