Tonight's cooking conundrum: what to do with left over cake ends.

JZ had to trim Matilda's birthday cake we wound up with odd bits of unfrosted chocolate cake.

You may now fear me because I have committed the English Crime of Dessert: Trifle!

Layer of chocolate cake; layer of whipped cream; layer of fresh rasperries smashed into fresh strawberry sauce; layer of chocolate cake, layer of whipped cream; layer of slice strawberries. Top with remaining strawberry sauce.

Now I have to make dinner. Also, I recently bought a Snoopy On His Doghouse Ice Shaver, and this has inspired me to make fresh syrup for snow cones. Sadly, the interpipes do not tell us how to make super yummy fresh Italian fruit flavors (mmmm, cantaloupe) but syrup isn't exactly rocket science and I have made my own blackberry syrup.

Anybody got any good fresh snow cone syrup recipes? I'm thinking strawberry and mint something.

Aw, I miss my childhood Snoopy now.

I soothed a cold rainy day, plus bonus cramps and headache with a lot of wine (for me).

Drunk dialling seems very, very tempting.

I still encounter people who saw the movie and say “There was a TV show about this?” and they watch the series and they don’t watch the last episode—so for them there’s always more Firefly.
