It looks like some kind of fairy lily (Zephyranthes candida), but you may want to google and compare the foliage.

Hivemind help for the cooking impaired: when a recipe says to cut a zucchini "crosswise," what does that mean? The way you would normally cut it? So it comes out in discs?

Ironically, I've had fast-food workers tell me that the chicken nuggets are the safest thing on the McD's menu because they're microwaved in the box straight from the freezer and have no contact with human hands.
I'd probably interpret "crosswise" as the opposite of "lengthwise" so yeah, into rounds.
I was having the crosswise v. lengthwise issue with tomato-cutting instructions recently. Did they mean so it has a top and bottom? Unclear!
