Everybody dies, Tracey. Someone's carrying a bullet for you right now, doesn't even know it. The trick is to die of old age before it finds you.

In Canada, Canadians were often very careful to describe the US as a melting pot and Canada as a cultural mosaic.

I was recently informed by my friend's 8 year old son that America is not a melting pot, it is a salad -- all of the ingredients are still themselves, but together make something new and great.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

That's wonderful news, Zmayhems! About time you guys got a break.

So I went off and recorded a bass instruction video snippet for my kiddoes on facebook to make myself feel better. Totally worked. But now I can't upload it because my connection speed is abysmal. I forsee a coffeeshop and/or library in my immediate future.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm impressed that there's an 8-year old boy out there who thinks salad is great!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Those are some pretty cool photos, Daisy Jane. Thanks for sharing them. LSU's mascot upkeep is probably a lot harder than my school's (we have a ram—put it in a grassy field and you're good to go).

Our wings are not tired.

Definite merging of flavors, but ingredients still remain distinct.

Right, in the same vein as Vortex's post, it's the sum being greater than the parts that is so cool - just like a stew.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

So now my bet is on that the developer will make it back for the 12:30, now that it's been cancelled. I should leave now.

I think that it was less that he thought that it was great, and more reciting something that had been drummed into them.

Hey, what's wrong with mosaic?! Individually distinct pieces making up a different whole picture. Why are you all obsessing over food?

Because books.

Why are you all obsessing over food?

Well, it is our usual go-to.

I like the stew and salad metaphors. But mosaic works, too.

Speaking of food, I'ma try the fish place. Mmm. Fish. America is a fish.
