The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

My cat couldn't manage to kill an ant this morning, so I have no hopes for her killing a mouse if I ever get one.

Ahaahaha. We found more ants last night. We even figured out (after disconnecting and moving the dishwasher) where they're coming in from. I want a do-over for this weekend.

Instead, I am going to spend today cleaning and writing. Pete (who slept for about three hours last night) is going to spend it clearing greenery away from one side of the house. Someone please send coffee, cupcakes, and booze.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I tried the 5-thing method for dusting (my housework nemesis) and now my living room looks much better. Thanks, Erin!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I shall put away all the shoes in my living room. If there are more than five pairs, does that count as five things?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Sheesh, first Janine Turner came out as a conservative Republican and now she looks like Carol Channing. Oh, Maggie...

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Dude, it can be 5 shoes. Doesn't even need to be pairs. Up to you.

Back from store and liquor store. I hate that you can't buy booze at the grocery store in Kansas. But I got a pomegranate martini mixer thing, that I hope will be delicious. Bacon-wrapped steaks (BACON), feta-hummous spread, whoopie cakes, cupcakes and those cracktastic frozen cream puffs.

YUM. And it's sunny, breezy and 82. We haven't been social in over a month. I am so ready!

Because books.

Shrek was fun! We took Sara's friend Libby, so the girls giggled and hooted together, which was nice. And we listened to good girl power tunes -- Pink, etc. -- in the car and sang along.

I try to do the five-rule thing but I can't. I always think in terms of whole rooms, although I can break it into layers. Like, tidy up all the clutter in one room, even if I don't get to dusting and actual cleaning.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It`s mildly shocking to me how little time it actually takes to do some of the tasks I loathe.

Me too!

I would love to have a fancy cocktail, possibly outside, but not alone. Hmph. I wish I had neighborhood friends!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Sheesh, first Janine Turner came out as a conservative Republican and now she looks like Carol Channing.

Let that be a warning to you all! Don't become a conservative. They have bad hair!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh, also: I saw a guy wearing a green "BEAT L.A." t-shirt and wondered if it was new this year.

Also, can anyone help me guess what a parking sign means? It's visitor parking (no meter, no resident sticker needed), and it says 2 hours, 8 am to 6 pm, M-F. What does that mean for the rest of the time??

Jesse I would love to have a fancy cocktail with you. I have been plotting mojitos for days. You'd be welcome, you'd just need to, uh, hop on a plane... maybe fold time a bit so you could arrive around 5ish... easy peasy?
