I'm balky about what my apartment is going to feel like when I get back to it, but I prefer it to 67°, that's for sure.
New laptop guy came back when I was in the middle of something, and now he's disappeared for an unpredictable amount of time. I have a personal phone call to make, dammit. Come back so I can chase down my prescriptions.
That is really not helping Pix's "move to LA" case.
Mmmhmmm.
JZ and I met with the director of Matilda's new school this morning. After going through all the reams of paperwork and looking at pay stubs and referring to charts and graphs the director seems to think that we will qualify for the PFA assistance which would drop our cost from $44/day to $22/day.
Now, $44 a day for five days a week is already cheaper than we're paying for 3 days a week at Matilda's school. But at $22/day we'd actually be living within our means and be able to buy things like shoes or something.
During the course of the discussion with both the secretary and the director I think there were at least eight instances where I tried to explain the variable nature of freelance writing and income and got nothing but blank stares.
"So...can you bring a pay stub for what you made last month?"
"No. I can probably find a copy of the check I received two months ago for the work I did for the previous three months. Or the check I did giving a bus tour in LA. Or the check for writing ten pieces for a website over an eight week period.
Anyway, if we can jump through enough bureaucratic hoops we might qualify for this benefit which would be HUGE.
Then Jen K. came over before her nursing shift and I made her lunch and we hung out in our back yard and it was very nice.
It's been raining all day here, which is lovely after the horribly dry summer. It's about 70 degrees, I guess. Perfect weather.
Now they're telling me they can't fax in a refill because my doctor's assistant is out today. I've been out of pain meds since Saturday. This is a flawed process.
I always appreciate a record weather day.
I, on the other hand, prefer not to be involved with any weather records. I find they are never a good thing.
Now they're telling me they can't fax in a refill because my doctor's assistant is out today.
The assistant is the only one who knows how to use the fax machine and the signature stamp?
What I didn't say: Fuck you and the horse you didn't ride in on.
I had an interview at The Store With Taxidermied Mice (as an admin), and then went for a ride down to Pacifica. As soon as I turned on to 1 from 280, the temperature dropped about 15 degrees. It was kind of awesome.
Hec, I'm honestly surprised that the nature of freelance work is that confusing to them. But this sounds like a much better choice for your family all around, even if they are somewhat clueless. I hope the PFA thing comes through. It's good to buy shoes.
People with crap backs, mine has been hurty since Saturday with a bit better yesterday, and today after sitting at work (and in the car this morning seems to be the worst) it's back to being fairly hurty.
It's my lower back, practically butt, over into my hip, and at its worst, my upper thigh.
Any notions of what might help? (As an aside, a few shots and then bed seems to relax everything enough that I can get a good nights sleep and it feels better in the mornings).
bread and jam:

The guy seemed solicitous, but was ultimately useless. He told me to hope that she wasn't out tomorrow too, and that he couldn't put me through to the doctor. For unspecified reasons.
This is oh-so-not-even-ironic in light of the spoons conversation in Bitches. I only get enough for a workday, generally, if I have pain meds. I need to be able to work a whole freaking week, you know?
