OK, I really need to spring into action. We don't have our usual Monday 10am staff meeting, which lets me avoid doing actual work for most of the morning. But it is totally a day to stay home and be cozy! Too bad I'm already at the office.
Natter 66: Get Your Kicks.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, pandas, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
OK. I still haven't really done any work, but I made a donation in honor of my cousin's wedding, so that's at least off my personal to-do list...
Despite crazy insomnia last night, I woke up and got to work on time. Even put on makeup! Now to keep the momentum moving.
I sprayed some weeds and pulled more burrs this morning after dropping mac off. am officially sore. neck and shoulders are in revolt. hot shower. I want to do more yardwork and work inside the house today, but I really need to log on to work. It's already 10 there and my bet is someone has already sent me questions in email.
Why does OJ taste so nummy in the morning?
I am reminded of David's story of 4 year old E locked in his room pounding on the door yelling, "I want to be a good boy!" and I have no idea how to induce that feeling in my son.
Oh man, I'd forgotten about that but Dylan (3.5) does the EXACT SAME THING. We use a fairly half-assed version of the 1-2-3-magic system where three "strikes" gets him a time out. But the instant a time-out is on the table he starts shrieking "NO NO NO I WANT TO BEHAVE!!!!!" Which really means "NO NO NO I DON'T LIKE BEING IN TIME OUT" but guess what, too effing bad.
I took sleeping pills last night. Got to sleep but and gronky as fuck right now. Just told my boss something about the "ixternal and external servers" instead of "internal and external...."
A little belated, but
((((Theresa)))) I'm sure Drama Queen appreciated all you did for her.
Happy Birthday, Matilda!
In me news, we started volunteering at Friends of Homeless Animals, a local dog and cat rescue organization. We're focusing (surprise, surprise) on the cats. Yesterday was orientation, which mostly involved meeting the cats at the cattery. And a little helping out (I was the only person there tall enough to vaccuum the stinkbugs off the ceiling...).
Plus breaking up a cat fight. Gerry is the sweetest orange and white cat you could imagine. Unfortunately, the other cats in his room disagree. While we were there, one of the cats went after poor Gerry -- and the others were starting to join in. I just happened to be in the room at the time, and I had to step between cats. Luckily, I was wearing jeans, so I was fairly well protected. The lead volunteer decided to put Gerry in the Senior Room.
The Real Life Inspirations For 14 Simpsons Characters
Troy McClure
While it’s easy to see that Troy is more of a stereotypical Hollywood wash up than a caricature of any one specific person, his name is based on two B-movie actors: Troy Donahue and Doug McClure. Doug’s daughter said that while her dad considered it an honor to have such an iconic character named after him, she still enjoyed talking back to him by calling him “Troy.”
Heh.
