Because books.

Wasn't that non-fiction, smonster? I couldn't figure that out when I saw the commercial.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Yes! It was a critical examination of the shitty societal messages adolescent girls internalize. I don't really recall there being any narrative thread throughout, though I haven't read it in over a decade. I just have this bad feeling it's going to get turned into histrionics and victim-blaming. Yanno, since it's Lifetime.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Yeah, Colbert testifying in character made me uneasy. OTOH, megan walker is right.

Just realized last night that I was depending on sleeping in the Zipcar at Harbin Hot Springs. And didn't think about the fact that I'd have to drag an air mattress and sleeping bag with me on the plane trip to do that. I cannot carry or hold things for long periods so I can only travel with what I can fit in a backpack. Oops.

I was discussing this with my mother and she suggested I borrow their caravan. Which is weird because they've been very "hands off!" about it hitherto. However, if both parents sign off on it, it could be a good solution. I will lose my airfare because I bought non-refundable on SW. So that's a bit over 100 clams. But I'll save the 240 clams it would have cost me to buy a single/shared bath room for 4 nights. It'll make it harder to go to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass because parking near my cousins' place in SF is freaking impossible, but it will make it easier to go everywhere else, including places I thought I wouldn't be able to visit due to their remoteness. So, if the car doesn't break down on me, this could be a very good thing!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I came home early. Instead of doing anything useful, I'm watching Animal Planet.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Mean Girls was "based on" nonfiction, too, wasn't it? So there you go.

My most unfavorite part of this cold is that I don't feel like eating anything, and I REALLY don't feel like cooking anything. I had awesome Burmese chicken soup for lunch, but I think gumdrops will be dinner. At least I'm roasting some of the tomatoes in the house so they don't go bad before I feel like them.

It just seems cheap to essentially write an original story and then use the name of a fairly well-known nonfiction book for the title. Especially when Reviving Ophelia was about more than domestic abuse, which is what the movie seems to be about.

We're ordering from a new pizza/sandwich place (new to us, anyway), and their menu is a riot. They have sandwiches named, among other things, Punch the Clown and Backwoods Revenge.

Absolutely. I'm just saying t happens. Mean Girls (the movie) had a different title, but it was equally unrelated to Queen Bees and Wannabes (the book).

Mmm, gumdrops for dinner. Especially spice gumdrops.

Yeah, these were spice. They jumped into my hand at the drugstore last night!

Oh, I can have some of the zucchini bread I made last night as well, without any effort.

@@ I was thinking to use my garment bag for my trip tomorrow, but it's too short for my dress! Stupid male hegemony over luggage! It would be fine for a suit.
