java, it's been summerish during the day and cooler in the evening the last week or so. Not sure what this week is supposed to bring.

It is kinda what I am thinking. I could move into the guest room and give a live in the master. They could be a student or even have a part time job and maybe I could pay a bit and give free room and baord. Not sure how it could all work, and it would to be someone trained with difficult kids.

Yep. I am not even sure a live-in could work, because I cannot pay a real au pair salary, but if I could find something to work, I think a private bath for them would be needed and I also think mac would do better sharing with me than with someone new.

A woman in our neighborhood has an au pair, and the girls love her, but I have no idea what she pays. I've never, in fact, met her, only the au pair. She's divorced and works full-time, so.
Some friends of mine had an au pair for a while while both parents were in grad school. They said that they didn't have to pay as much as they would for a regular live-in nanny.
True au pairs aren't paid a real salary (they get room & board and a small monthly sum), but then they are also not trained and can't stay more than a year.

It's called Compulsion, and it's a not-at-all-veiled dramatization of Meyer Levin's obsession with the Anne Frank story, and how he went from representing Otto Frank's interests in negotiating with American publishers to suing the publishers and Otto Frank for having stolen his ideas for the Pulitzer-winning stage play based on the book. He really went off the deep end, and by the 1970s he was accusing Lillian Hellman of stealing his mail.
Patinkin was fabulous in it, but it was not a happy play, given the subject matter. Very well done, though.
yeah I have just been reading up. I could probably swing it, I would just need to identify us as a special needs situation and interview any potential matches. I think I am going to talk to my parents about it and maybe call a few agencies.
