We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. You know why? Because we are so very pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die.

Yeah, I got to work and was feeling very sorry for myself (for one thing, I am often BOTH the first one here and the last to leave, what the fuck, do I work with Tino suddenly?) And then my coworker came in and said she'd just seen a student on a bike get hit by a car at the corner (that our office overlooks), so we looked out and saw the poor guy and the poor woman who hit him and while I didn't feel less sorry for myself, I did feel rather ashamed of feeling sorry for myself.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

The decapitation thing is just weird:

Police explode pipe bomb near decapitated body

A man walking his dog this morning near an Evanston middle school discovered a decapitated body, perhaps the result of a pipe bomb explosion, and some hours later police exploded a pipe bomb found in the vicinity.

Police pushed the media back from the area after discovering what appeared to be an explosive device near the body, WGN-Ch. 9 reported about 8:40 a.m. Some residents were being evacuated from their homes. The Cook County sheriff's bomb squad was on the scene.

...

On returning home, he said neighbors told him they had heard a loud explosion between 4 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. He said police told him they had come out earlier to investigate the sound of the explosion but were unable to find anything at that time.

So the guy was planting a pipe bomb and accidentally blew off his head? Or on purpose? Weird.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I hate the term "baby bump" so very much.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

What's wrong with "baby bump"? I hear a lot of hate for it.

I'm wearing my @@ earrings today. They don't go with my skirt, but they amuse me.

Wait - does each earring have one @ or two?

Also, is "@@ = eye-roll" just a b.org thing?

Each earring is an @.

Yeah. Jesse-started, if memory serves.

My hand is a bit smaller today, but not normal yet. Still bandaged. Typing hurts more.

Can I talk about shoes here, or is that better in Bitches? I really want these (Frye Veronica Slouch, in the saddle): [link] But I'm thinking these from LL Bean would be pretty comparable, and actually sort of affordable: [link] Yes?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yes. Also, now I want those. Which is ridiculous, because my wardrobe (especially my winter wardrobe) is so black, on purpose, so I only have black shoes.

Jesse-started, if memory serves.

I think that's true!

Is it often cold enough in GA for boots to be comfortable, flea? I don't wear them much in NC because of temp issues.
