The 61 year old woman in charge of the current website asked what's wrong with it--besides the fact that it isn't "hip." And she used air quotes.
Heh. I saw today that the oldest known Twitter used, who was 104, died today. Actually maybe that was here.
He just thinks that a company taking in $4 billion in premium should have a better website than this.
The upside to this project is that DH is suddenly taking a LOT of interest in the net and asking lots of good questions. He's reading books on HTML, Perl, etc. and learning about servers, etc.

Hell, make sure Owen doesn't get hold of your DH's passwords. He may have some non-insurance-industry-approved idea of hipness.

There was more at some point. It's not here now.
I met with a carpenter today! And her recommendations...well, her inclination is NOT to replace the doors. In her view they are both sound (if one is really ugly.) She recommended paint for that one. Framing is just the issue. For the deck, the it is just rotting and bad so probably a complete rebuild. For the basement, replace what needs it, reinforce what doesn't, replace the hardware.
Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised. Her inclination is to save what can be saved, altering it as necessary. She's going to write up ideas and a bid, and let me know her schedule. She thinks it would basically be a day's work. Labor would be a couple hundred, plus materials. So much better than I'd anticipated.
