I'm on the "what an asshole" team. Don't know how he can't realize how badly he is behaving. Have nothing else to contribute.

Have I told my Wilbur Huckle story here? (Well, actually my dad's Wilbur Huckle story.)
msbelle, I hope therapy went well.

Don't know how he can't realize how badly he is behaving.
Never underestimate somebody's capacity for self-delusion.
Man, Suzi, tell her the Buffista hit squad is ready to mobilize. And we have weapons.
ita, wonderful news! I'm so happy for you.

He sounds just so... young and stupid. Very emotionally stunted.
My ex was like that even into his 40s. I remember the drama, the red hot fury of betrayal. (I was the other woman, ended up taking the scorned woman to the mental hospital after her suicide attempt in my apartment) The best advice I have is to try to shake off the rage. Remember, he's gonna have to live with himself for the rest of his life. His stupidity and insecurity will eventually drag everyone down around him into the muck of the drama.

I'm just saying... be careful how far down the rabbit hole of his assholery y'all go down. It can come back and kick you in the ass, and he's NOT worth it.
Assholes are useful in that they give you information about the kind of guy you don't want. "Hm, you're just like the guy I nearly married who turned out to be a total sleaze. Sorry, dude, you've got to prove you're not just like him."

Oh yeah. The key takeaway is "better off without him." And that means without him in your life at all.
I just don't understand how you justify something like that to yourself. Like, how do you not realize that you are an asshole?
Some people just feel immensely entitled. No matter what they do they feel justified in their actions.
