Well, looks like the trip is a 'go'.
I'm thinking I'll try and get hold of some Harry Potter for the drive as I WILL BE GOING TO THE THEME PARK WHEN I AM DOWN THERE.

oh yeah Jesse, it could have been so much worse. The grandparents are just so not in touch with how things roll. I am trying not to be too @@, but they also have had obligations for at least part of every single day.
msbelle, I hope the adjustment time is smoother as the days go by.
The grandparents will learn, sorry that they aren't cottoning on faster.
Don't know if I mentioned it (I could search) bought tickets up to see Carol in a week, next Tuesday. Out on the first flight, back on the last. I kinda hate waiting that long, but... It will be what it is. Dad is there starting tomorrow through Friday. He's got a long BWI layover, I've told mom to ask if he wants me to come up and hang. My bosses are all "take whatever you need, no questions asked." I kinda hope he opts to meet up with me, cause...well, I am worried about him. Mom called last night, he was in bed, asleep at 8:30. That's not usual. And he's not talking. He never does. He just gets really quiet when stuff really upsets him, and it really doesn't work for him. And the thing is, I can bully him into talking about feeeeeelings, and it's usually had a positive impact (he reacts differently to my mom doing the same. Ah, family dynamics.) And it is harder to do on the phone.
My cousin Karen sounds so much like her mother on the phone, I thought she was Carol.
Neighbor who I catsit for is gonna take me out for drinks in the near future. Probably good.
Phooey, friend just discovered she had $140 voucher for SW, if used by this friday. After I'd booked my tickets. Oh well.
About how much should I expect to pay a moving company for a move from DC to central PA? I'm getting some estimates from moving companies, but I want to know a ballpark figure of what to expect.
Are they packing at all?
Are they packing at all?
Maybe the kitchen, but I think I can manage everything else myself.
I've always packed myself (since I have all the original boxes for my crystal, dishes, etc). So I have no idea how much that adds.
But my move from NYC to the Eastern Shore was about $1500. I think because that was semi-local (i.e., they showed up on the day and went down and unpacked on the same) it was charged hourly. I had a pretty standard one bedroom, but with lots of books.
Loki has it in for my flying monkey from my Elphaba Halloween costume years back (stuffed gorilla with laminated construction paper green wings.) He's crying and taking swings at it because he can't go outside.
This is amusing.
eta: my move across town, a mere 6 miles, was something like $400. And that was packed. And cheap when I did the comps. But different than a long distance move.
Meeting dad at the airport on friday. Screw work. Yay.
