Hey, preaching to the choir. I thought our Lady of the Perpetual Sea Breeze was the real deal until the Divine Miss J walked right through that door and right into my ass—which is where my heart is…physiologically. I could show you an x-ray.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

This may be the dumbest thing I've ever done.* I've been sitting on the couch all day working on my laptop. My arm started feeling like it was sunburned, and I realized - far too late - that the sun's been coming through a crack in the blinds and probably lay across my arm, propped up on the pillows, long enough to burn me. And I didn't even notice, because my back's to the window.

`*No, it isn't.

Because books.

I want chips and guac and queso now. Wasabi scares me, though.

Whatever they just did on the Transformers movie set, it was LOUD. Dang. And having a helicopter so close to my building is freaky.

brillig

A company minion just came around to drop something on each desk. Turns out it's a leather bound "padfolio", which is a fancy word for a bound pad of note paper with the company logo and morale boosting quotes and company goals. It smells goo-ood. Mmm, leather. Now I just need to find a use for a pad of lined paper since I do most everything either electronically or on the backs of sheets from my Far Side calendar.

not your mom's socks.

Jilli & Perkins, I just spammed it in email to unsuspecting friends, so can toss it to you by email or post it here. Which is better? It's not particularly measure-y, but I could fix that.

Eee. This is the yum & now I can share it.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Post, cause I want it too.

hip deep in pie

I need some shoe advice. I am going to a wedding in a month. I am 98% certain I am wearing this dress: [link]

I am not sure what shoes to get. I have no idea how dressy this wedding is, but I suspect fairly casual. (Though the bride is from Houston so who knows!)

I bought these shoes today, but I think they may be too casual for the dress. (But I really like them and may keep them anyway.) [link]

Anyway, I was thinking something like these? [link]

I am terrible at matching shoes with outfit with occasion. I need your help.

Other things: I can't do more than 2.5-3 inch heel and I have wide feet.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I agree that the second ones are dressier (and cute!), and I think people are often more dressed up at weddings than I expect. I do like those first ones, too. But I would only wear them to a wedding if you knew it was super casual.

not your mom's socks.

Cold cucumber and avocado soup with wasabi (from the dalek-stove kitchen)

Some cucumbers - 4 medium ones, peeled & quartered, for instance. Seed if necessary.

1 or more ripe avocados, peeled, pitted and cubed

1 or more cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup onion or scallions

Fresh lemon juice (1-2 tablespoons ish)

1 cup plain low fat yogurt

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup crushed ice.

--blend all of these--

Adjust for taste with sea salt, more of something...

Top with wasabi.

Serve in fancy glass.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Thanks Sox!

That sounds awesome.
