Jesse, it still does! I don't know why I'm tickled by that, but I guess it's because I think of Buffet as so plain spoken and midwestern, precisely the opposite of the stereotypical baby killer liberals. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation also currently funds LOTS of contraception work, especially overseas, and I think it's great, just not as surprising.
Also, good morning buffistas.
Happy birthday SA.
I think some of the Grace bumps have diminished, except at her waistline where she has continued to scratch.
Oh, msbelle, that BLOWS. I am extremely sorry.
Msbelle, that just sucks!
bonbon- I think the antiperspirant might work AFTER this rash has cleared up, but right now, unfortunately, it is sort of problem of stewing in ones own juices, so to speak.
OMG WTF, msbelle!! Would you still get paid as a contractor for the time, in that case?
I don't know why I'm tickled by that, but I guess it's because I think of Buffet as so plain spoken and midwestern, precisely the opposite of the stereotypical baby killer liberals.
Stereotypically, those folks like to be left alone, and are willing to leave you alone, too. Of course, Susie (Sr.) lived in San Francisco for many years before she died -- they never got divorced, but Warren has been with his current wife for a looong time. Susie introduced them.
I know way too much about the Buffett family. Back in the day, the administrator of the foundation was Susie Jr's ex-husband.
We have no signed agreement yet for being a contractor, so I am refusing to do work. SUCKIT!
Ugh. I had to call one of the developers last night and wake him up for the 9pm call. I still feel like shit. He took it with good humour, but I'm sure everyone's seething and about to go postal. He starts work at 5 or 6am, so he goes to sleep early. He was totally "Bwuh?" when I called. I tried to make excuses to everyone on the con call for why we should let him sleep, but nope.
At least the developer that was working all weekend (ALL-he's sent emails at 2 and 3 and 5 am) doesn't have to come into the office today. But he does still have to work. I really want to try and get at least an afternoon off this week.
So B.org has lots of people with experience as managers that have done a lot of hiring people and looking at resumes. What would intrigue you about a resume if the person had not worked in almost two years (well, besides the fact that they hadn't worked in almost two years)?
I'm working on Joe's resume and I'm not sure how to address the gap in employment. Should I list education first so that potential employers can see that he's been doing something over the past 16 months or will they look at the degree and think "Not relevant" and pass it up? I'm hoping to suck them in with the awesome cover letter, but I want the resume to reflect the awesomeness as well.
msbelle, that's crap. SUCKIT is exactly right.
Kat, I hope Gracie is better today. Rashes are awful, no matter what.
msbelle, how infuriating. On what grounds are they trying to cut you off? "We are assholes" grounds?
Kat, one thing from personal rash experience - once skin is sensitized, it can get irritated easily for a while. Such as, I got poison ivy and then got a weird rash on my stomach that a doc in the box diagnosed as scabies, when it was just contact dermatitis from my detergent (which was usually fine).
Sunburn - still burny. Am on extra-strength OTC painkillers, and arnica, and applied aloe. And brought a bottle with me to work.
I need to hit Target and see if they have any beach umbrellas left. Should have bought one at the beach, duh.
Aims -- I think putting the education first is a good idea. You can tweak a resume many ways, depending on the field and the job position; I personally have my education and credentials at the beginning of my resume.
Most employers will look at school attendance and fill in the blanks -- it's not really an employment gap; it's a completely logical step in employability.
And i am amazed I could write that, snce I am so full of gronk. I think I need to go back to sleep for a few hours.
