Shell peas are ripe when the pods are fat. You want them filled out, but not burstingly fat - the peas are sweeter when they are just-ripe, and get starchier the longer they are on the vine. I find I need to pick every other day to get them at their best.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I was going to say, then I can give ita goats...steaks.

I've had goat, but I wasn't all nom. I would like to try some kid, though. Methinks my goat was a tough urban goat.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I have: eggs, broccoli, probably eggplant in the garden, cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, frozen chicken breasts, frozen lamb chops, pasta but not sauce, a shit ton of frozen cooked rice...

Wait! Maybe broccoli fried rice? What else should go in it?

eta I also have soy sauce and fresh basil.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

smonster, thread-jumping to say that if you want to come over and watch the White Collar special features and get A Grill on the way instead of cooking, I'll gladly watch them a hundred or so more times before bed. Up to you. I've already eaten.

But cooking is good, too!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I just made fried rice the other day. I put mushrooms, spinach, red bell pepper and tofu in it. It was goooood.

Incidentally, smonster, I've had a Waste Question I've been meaning to ask you.

When I blow my nose in the bathroom I've taken to throwing the used tissue into the toilet to be flushed at some later time, rather than into the bathroom trashcan. Is waste taken out through the sewers more or less green/efficient than through the trash?

Fresh basil? Pasta, mixed with sizzled garlic in olive oil, some steamed broc, basil and mozz. Nom. Salt and pepper, a little lemon juice, if you have it.

Our wings are not tired.

Hec, did JZ tell you that Matilda was very particular about her smoothie on Sunday and that she laid out a few rules about how her dad makes her smoothies to perfection? Matilda takes two bananas and will have no chunks whatsoever, thankyouverymuch!

amyth, answered over there.

David, I laughed so hard. Awesome question. I think I am stumped! My educatedish guess is that it's better to chuck in the trash. Anything other than liquid needs to be strained out before releasing the water, so best to minimize. In the grand scheme, probably doesn't matter. I could suggest handkerchiefs or snot rockets, but they each have their own drawbacks.

Also, I went on a date once with a chemical engineer who worked for a paper company who explained to me that toilet paper was engineered to break down in water, while tissue was engineered to be stronger (than TP) when wet, and that is why you should never flush tissue.

And that is why there wasn't a second date. (Also, I met him in a park years later with his husband.)
