Safe travels and a calm night.

Took my other friend Lisa to a birthday lunch, and she gave me some earrings for MY birthday that are so me, it's awesome. Then, since I had a meeting and we hadn't done dessert yet, I walked back (from Paper Moon) which was actually nice and not too uncomfortable. And it really isn't that far, so worthwhile to remember for offsite lunches where we don't want to drive.

Still didn't have time to get to the hardware store, though.

Now tagless for your comfort.

One of the cast of Glee is singing at the All-Star game. DH just said we should be watching Glee. Amber has some pipes!

hip deep in pie

I am baking a birthday cake for a coworker. I think it's 100% humidity here, and I feel like it's going to ruin the cake. All my dry goods feel damp.

Punishingly Intricate

Anything can make anyone think about sex so I don't worry about it.

Because books.

Doesn't she, Cash? I'm also a sucker for that song.

We were just playing Bananagrams on the screen porch with the kids, Sue, and it's SO humid here, it's just foul. All my clothes feel vaguely damp now.

So I'm working with this woman: [link] in my hometown to create a custom address sign. It's crazymaking, but fun! I'm calling it a birthday present to me, even if it takes weeks to figure out. Last year, I got the custom nepalese slate address mandala. Kinda fun to do it again, but with totally different tradition.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Anything can make anyone think about sex so I don't worry about it.

Yeah, I was going to say...

The boys I asked swore flesh tone did it for them too, but perhaps I should just not ask krav guys about stuff like that ever.

Did you ask them about legs?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Matilda and I made a rare Tuesday crossing of the Bay to go spend some extra time with Emmett and the pool at EM's complex.

As I'd just had a big fight with EM, and was pretty angry at Emmett too it was actually good to go over there and kind of smooth things over. They were both conciliatory though and my kids had a great time in the pool. Then we hustled back to the apartment and wolfed down some food and I took Emmett and EM and dropped them off for Emmett's Krav class.

The good news is that his teacher and the owner of the school agreed that Emmett was able to move up to adult classes. This is great news because: (a) we pay a flat fee for krav classes, but there are only two kids classes a week. Now he can go multiple times a week without extra cost. This is especially awesome because he needed the exercise while he had a gap in his baseball schedule and he wasn't signed up for any camp this summer; (b) also awesome because the adult class workouts are way more intense than the kid classes. Emmett had sat in on some of the adult classes during Krav Camp and loved it.

Also his teachers really love him there so that's good.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

The freeway on the way home tonight was backed up for over five miles because there was an accident on the other side of the freeway.

eta: sometimes, I just don't get people.
