Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

The Y has a national governing body, but individual Ys are autonomous and can range from completely inclusive, we're a community center for all, to much more explicity Christian. There was a kerfuffle around here a few years back when the local Ys refused to allow LGBT families to use their family rate because they weren't part of the Y's def of "family", and so was taken off the Looniversity's benefits plan.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Huh. Lloyd's Of London warns businesses to prepare for peak oil

Venerable financial institutions Lloyds of London and Chatham House issued a dire warning to UK businesses. Energy shortages and peak oil are going to be major issues for insurance markets in coming years.

The groups issued a joint report, Sustainable Energy Security: Strategic Risks and Opportunities for Business, which explained, "Companies which are able to take advantage of this new energy reality will increase both their resilience and competitiveness. Failure to do so could lead to expensive and potentially catastrophic consequences."

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

How to open a wine bottle without a corkscrew. Naturally it's in French, but the video is pretty straightforward. And awesome.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Most Ys do not have rooms anymore is my understanding. Not sure on the Christian.

They do here - I see ads on the CTA.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just got an education on SAN vs. NAS. How behind the times I was. Plus, bonus foreign accent. Totally helped.

I almost roomed at the Y for a few months in high school. Sadly, I ended up in a convent hostel instead. Less lyrical glee there.

It's fun to stay at the convent hostel!

Still scans!

But the arm motions totally suck in comparison.

WWII is full of plot holes.

The IO9 article just went up. My memory only goes back so far. If someone linked to it in a time warp, I'm really impressed.
