Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I know about the crudites, Zen. I seem to be able to manage raw much more easily than cooked. Cooked veg is...packing material, mostly. I get as much enjoyment out of styro peanuts.

The steamer is H's gadget; I'm perfectly happy steaming rice on the stove. But the top basket does come in handy for steaming things, so you get twice as much food for the energy used to cook it.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Heh. Exactly. At least the styro peanuts are fun when the cats chase them.

And by coincidence, moments after posting on LeBron, I ran into this from The Nation on SubPrime Dan, the owner of the team Bron left [link]

information libertarian

Speaking as someone who has spent time in Cleveland, the fans there are extremely sensitive about departing sports [people/teams], after the Browns moved to Baltimore. That was EPIC. Also, Cleveland is close to Detroit in its level of economic woes; it feels a bit like kicking people who are down.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Boing moved their headquarters out of Washington State

This should totally be the company name. Who wouldn't want to fly in a Boing?

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

while I am still not at all calmed down yet, I did just realize that I will be able to soak in the tub with the bathroom door open and music on tonight. AND I can stay in there as long as I want.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

This should totally be the company name. Who wouldn't want to fly in a Boing?

Oh, ha. I thought he meant BoingBoing.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I've only ever seen one brand of commercial kale chips, and they were at a health food store and ridiculously expensive and not very good.

Somewhere or other, I just saw a review of some new falafel chips made of chickpeas, as well as some other chips made out of beans, but I can't remember where.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I'm ambivalent about LeBron James. Having lived in Ohio during his high school years and his entry to the NBA, I am not sentimental about him. He struck me as a smart kid, having leveraged his skills early and positioned himself to make a lot of money and to take care of the people around him. But watching his mother (who lived in public housing and used food stamps) go out and get a loan for a Hummer for his 18th birthday based on his future income alone was sort of eyerolly. He's a businessman, essentially. I understand that all of Cleveland thinks they nurtured him, and in a way, they did. But he made the best deal he can in order to win a championship.

His NBA pay is nothing next to his endorsements, which shouldn't take too bad of a hit over his move. And I'm sure he bargained for a lot of perks--like getting some of his entourage hired by the Heat and travelling expenses on the road for his family.

I don't know that the lack of state taxes played very heavily into his decision. I think he wants to play with his buddies and win a championship. That doesn't bother me.

The hour long television coverage of his announcement was lame, though. And grossly self-serving. ESPN should be ashamed of itself over that whole fiasco.
