When she lies down and curls up, she is just the exact right size to wrap your arms around and pick up and squeeze. And it would be the worst thing I could do. It just breaks my heart. Oh, sweet girl.

Brenda, you are the best. And Darby is such a lucky girl.

You are totally right, primates are all about ventral to ventral contact (hugging) but dogs would not be into it at ALL by choice. Some dogs can be trained to accept, if not entirely enjoy it but definitely not all.

Bartleby is okay with my poking and prodding...which is endless, but my hugging him is, I think, a necessary evil. In exchange, I have learned to ignore his lickity licking of the feet and legs...which is a LOT.

We, too, are the perfect pair.

Because books.

I want this dress and somewhere to wear it. So much.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yeah, Lucy I could wrap my arms around (from the side or behind) and squeeze and she'd give me about fifteen seconds before she started shoving. (And when Lucy shoved, you stayed shoved.)

We had each other's number pretty well though, and tolerated a lot on both sides.

I do not thank any of you for introducing me to that site. Or rather, my wallet does not.

Because books.

I've been good about just browsing lately, actually. Except for the Russian nesting doll measuring cups, which were literally NOT to be resisted.

I love the stories about Darby, brenda. Such a sweetheart.

I have those on my Amazon wishlist.

Right now I'm resisting the site someone linked to recently, where I'd really like this and this.

Oh, that first one is gorgeous.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It's totally worth trawling ebay for dresses like the first one, megan. I got some great stuff there a few years ago. Much cheaper.

I really like the first one as well.

It prompts me to ask, is it wrong for me to want sleeves on a dress? It seems such a rare thing these days.
