A woman in my office took a bunch of things she had - jewelry her parents had bought her that she didn't like - and got a fair amount of money for it.
BUT ... I've heard about the scams and there was a thing on TV where they were checking out one of the parties (someone hosts, the company sends a rep who weighs the jewelry, assays it, and buys it) and they were giving something like 44% of its appraised value. They weren't clear as to whether the appraisers were giving the value of the gold or the value of the jewelry.
I have heard that if the jewelry is any good that you'd get more selling it as jewelry, rather than for the gold.
Erin - backflung.
Food report:
gave away a bag of baking M&Ms, dijon mustard, kalamata olives, sesame oil
mac finished off a bottle of syrup
Things we are now having to buy to get through the next week: lemonade, bread, tv dinners, and chips.
I had leftovers for lunch and will do the same for dinner, mac is having leftovers now and had a snack of chips and fruit. It is so hot, I cannot bring myself to bake, but I really should make a batch of muffins. Maybe I'll make pudding instead. Stove is less hot than oven.

I've heard that a lot of the mail-in cash for gold places are scams.
I'm not surprised. I mean, you mail them your gold, and...what guarantee do you have that they will send you any money? Isn't that how it works?

...Uh.
I read that. What a truly horrible person.

I am starting to get tired of peas, and I have so many left! Downside of the CSA.
The freezer is your friend!
I should freeze the regular peas, huh? And maybe the chard. I mean, it's already Wednesday, and new stuff comes Friday. But I think the snow peas and sugar snap peas just need eating! So delicious.
