Well, quite a lot of fuss. If I didn't know better, I'd think we were dangerous.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Sophia, if she asked you to look it over, you should make the suggestion. She is always free to not follow your advice, right?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

ION, what is up with the Huffington Post?

Huffington Post descends into creationist madness

Even in my more cynical moments I didn't think a premium progressive site like Huffington Post would give voice to a creationist nutbag. And not just any nutbag, a nutbag spewing the evolution-inspired-the-Nazi-holocaust garbage. Here's some of what my old buddy PZ, an actual evolutionary biologist, had to say:

I'll mention just one paragraph of this dishonest bunk.

Hitler's ideas, Dr. Berlinski carefully notes, "came from many different sources but no honest account will omit Darwin." A reading of Mein Kampf makes that clear. Certainly, Berlinski says, the men who formulated Nazi ideology "weren't reading the Gospels."

Here you go, a link to Mein Kampf on Project Gutenberg. Go to town. Search for Darwin — nothing. Or evolution — that is there, but only used in the sense of "higher" and "lower" organisms, and some bizarre notion that nature abhors crossbreeding.

It's one of the oldest and ugliest lies in the creationist bag of tricks: blame Darwin for the Holocaust. It's been debunked countless times. But waiting for creationist shills to tell the truth about anything is as foolish as waiting for a farm subsidies lobbyists to post objective nutritional data on corn syrup.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Robert Lanza, MD is considered one of the leading scientists in the world. He is the author of "Biocentrism," a book that lays out his theory of everything.

Oh, but is it a supertheory of supereverything?

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I really wish my boss was a better writer, because everything she has to say is great, but nurses are taught to be very brief and she is fairly new to academic writing. She ends up with either "short and choppy with sentence fragments" or what my professor called "bad learned prose" where you basically dress things up with big words and passive voice.

Many, many nurses write like this, and get published, so I don't want to be too critical of her writing (even though I just want it to get better). But uncomfortable.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I think the problem is that the two items are redundant. Rising cost of healthcare v. healthcare spending. Is there really a substantive difference there? I would go with one or the other because with both it's going to sound wrong either way to some readers.

I've never really understood this argument, even if Hitler cited evolution/natural selection as a motivating reason for the Holocaust, it says nothing about the validity of the theory. I suppose the idea must be that we should suppress the science regardless of the evidence.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

This is unfair - it's hotter here in Brooklyn than at my parents house in DC where we just left! We were driving northeast for 5 hours! Isn't that worth at least a few degrees???

And I still have to go back outside to go grocery shopping and return the car. Blast.

No no no, everything Hitler ever had even a remote connection with is automatically and permanently linked with EVIL.

For example: Nazi uniforms included pants. THEREFORE, pants-wearing caused the holocaust. Everyone who is not a nudist obviously loves Hitler and should be shunned by all right-thinking people.
