Giles, if you would like to get by in American society, then you are going to have to follow our traditions. You're the patriarch. You have to host the festivities, or it's all meaningless.

Talked to mom. From what she's heard, my aunt is pretty out of it. She's sending me my uncle's number (I don't know him that well, second husband, never knew the first, but he brought a lot of happiness to my aunt) and hopefully will give him a call in the coming days. Not much else I can do.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

{{{sarameg}}} I'm sorry.

I don't really feel like I need sympathy. It's just weird and sad. My cousins (who I also don't know that well, sigh) and my uncle need it. And my dad. I don't think he's gonna handle this well.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

sara, I know it's at a remove for you, but I'm wishing strength for your family.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Jessica, don't you have a home fizzy water maker? Do you love it? And if so, what kind did you end up getting? I am caving and getting one but I feel overwhelmed by choice and having no frigging clue. I get tired of recycling even two l bottles. And I have no interest in making flavored sodas, just fizzy water.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Pretty sure Steph got that penguin one, if Jess didn't.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Steph for sure has the fizzy water maker.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Uh-oh. New thing I need for my kitchen ahoy!
