Wow, I think I just saw the longest play on Earth. With 6 people in the audience and 8 people in the cast (6 of whom I knew). It was actually a staged reading, but it was seriously 2 1/2 hours.
That doesn't seem that long. Unless it was terrible.

We have a busy day today. I need to pick up the laundry we did yesterday, talk to the building staff to get the moving pads put up in the elevator, go pick up mac's playdate, get some cooking/baking done before it gets too hot, be here at noon for the people picking up the armoire, do some work, label 4-5 boxes that are packed but not labeled, pack the backpack I plan to carry on the plane (test run).
whew!
It seems like a good day to go to the movies here, but there's not really anything I want to see. Woe.

It was sort of terrible. It was RUR (Rossum's Universal Robots), which could be a compelling play, but it needs to be cut. And we were sitting on church pews. And I was with 2 wriggly children. And frankly, even (or perhaps because) of working in theatre, I don't tend to like to sit down and watch shows without getting up and walking around. I am so used to being in rehearsal, where I come and go that it is really hard for me to sit still.
Timelies all!
We didn't end up getting to the Folklife Festival after all. We met up with some folks from out of town, and they wanted to see the Museum of American History, so we went there for a few hours, then made our way to the Capitol and staked out a place on the lawn where we could see the fireworks. It was very, very hot.
It is def movie weather here. Mac and I are planning on going on thursday. I think I have convinced him that we need to skip avatar:airbender, so we'll probably try for despicable me or karate kid, I'm not sure what opens when.
Dylan's first fireworks was a HUGE success! We decided the Ellipse would provide the best combination of crowd-avoision and fireworks viewing, and it turned out to be just perfect. It was hot, but not humid, so after the sun went down the temperature was great.
Dylan was getting *really* antsy from being up so late past his bedtime and having not much to do, but as soon as the fireworks actually started, he was entranced. He was laughing and shouting for the whole show and had great fun shouting "BOOM!" every time one went off. It was awesome.
awesome. I love fireworks, but mac tends to not like loud noises, so we have yet to try being close.
We have retrieved his friend for the playdate and now I need to recover again from the heat. I still need to find building staff to get the moving stuff up in the elevator. They all seem to be hiding when I go downstairs to find them.
I hope everyone had a happy 4th. Ours was busy, hence the lack of posting on my part. Went to Del Mar. House sitting family for the win!
Today I think will involve the county fair. yay?
Kids are being ornery so I should go soon.
Oh goodness- I was just re-watching Dr. Horrible-- and his name is BILLY! I never noticed. Joss needs a William intervention.
