Isn't current research hypothesizing that early humans (at least some) were endurance runners, and simply ran down the sprinters?
Yes. Sprinting to outrun a sabre tooth tiger is not a great evolutionary strategy. Stamina + learning to climb trees and/or build squash courts worked better.

You know, good for him.
-t, I have had that experience! It is hilarious to get a Big Box Of Meat. And then if you keep the stuff in the little sub-boxes, it makes your freezer look really organized for a while.
Average life span numbers are tricky, because of high infant and child mortality. The increase in modern average life spans isn't so much that people are living longer (though they are, with modern medicine) but that more children are surviving, due to aforesaid modern medicine and fewer predators.

Right, that's the evolutionary advantage to not being covered in fur and being able to sweat. There's also the idea that what separated us from the Neanderthals was collecting clams and so forth while the tide was out (which Neanderthals didn't do, specializing almost exclusively in big game hunting) which required us to do pattern-recognition so as to be able to predict tides with some accuracy and not drown.
Okay, that may have nothing to do with neo-palelithic lifestyles, but it's just so neat, I had to mention it.
Also, isn't the entire history of the human race a story of Get Inside, Shut The Door, and for Gods' Sakes, Stoke That Fire?
And then if you keep the stuff in the little sub-boxes, it makes your freezer look really organized for a while.
It does! I should inventory my freezer while it's easy to do..
My freezer is currently empty.
I do not understand those words put together in that order.
I'm lazy when it comes to food shopping. When I run out of food at home I'm more likely to eat out than go get groceries.
eta: Plus I don't drive to get groceries, so I'm limited to what I can carry.
