I'm trying to imagine Gideon in the episode Omnivore (where they first encounter the Reaper) and Hotch is blaming himself for the people killed on the bus. Rossi talks him down, all tough love "Take my gun and kill yourself if feel that bad about it." which stops the Hotchly tears. I can't imagine what Gideon would have done. Shamed him, perhaps?

That's more of a dog's kinda purchase anyway. A well-trained lab could probably work out how to get the accessory packages he wanted and pre-pay the lock fees at the Welland Canal.
