Ann, that's a ferret.

"WhoDat's gonna beat dem Saints?"

I remember it from my time there, and my last NFL season in NOLA was '83. The Saints started out something like 7-1, and the line was "Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints?" There was even a song that got some airplay.

The Saints ended up something like 8-8, and they missed the playoffs. Still, a vast improvement over the '80 team (my freshman year), which went 1-15 and inspired the bagheads.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

The NFL very well may have trademarked it on the sly. Sometimes organizations will trademark stuff "just in case". However, if they have not defended the trademark previously, it weakens their case.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

One crafty Twitter user created a shirt mocking the NFL on the Web site customink.com. In yellow lettering, the front of the black shirt reads: "Who exactly is it that states they are going to defeat the football team from New Orleans?" The back taunts: "Cease and desist this."

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Well, according the article Dana linked to, the NFL is saying the Saints themselves hold the trademark.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I remember a "Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints? Who dat? Who dat?" song playing on the radio in NOLA in the early 2000s.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Well, according the article Dana linked to, the NFL is saying the Saints themselves hold the trademark.

Which, according to the arguments the NFL lawyermade to the SCotUS this past week or se, means the NFL holds the trademark for the Saints or some such thing.

That means that a black shirt featuring XLIV in gold letters, a representation of this year's Super Bowl, is off limits.

I'm making 30 of them tonight.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

It's possible this picture has been posted before, but it is just so awesome I'm posting it now.

Back in 2005 Myles Weissleder shot an awesome photo of his dog Pico jumping in front of the Golden Gate Bridge with a rubber chicken in his mouth.
