That's the thrill of living in the Hellmouth! There's a veritable cornucopia of fiends and devils and ghouls to engage ... Pardon me for finding the glass half-full.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm rather fond of Elinor Dashwood. But Elisabeth Bennett is loads of fun.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Is there a movie with hot people in it?

Depends how you feel about Ciaran Hinds. It is an excellent movie.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Jane Austen puts me to sleep. Faster than medication.

Does that mean I should steal my copy of P&P&Z back from you?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Well, he's no Colin Firth. But he might be a Matthew Macfadyen.

Dear god, today is meeting hell. That meeting that we've been putting off all week due to various sicknesses is lasting way longer than an hour. I hope I have more generic Imitrex. It took forever to break the migraine yesterday. I don't want it back in full force today.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Cirian Hinds made me want to actually read Persuasion.

The ITV1 Persuasion a few years ago, otoh, sent me into a rage.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I love Austen although I couldn't actually worship her if only because anyone who prefers Fanny Price to Elizabeth Bennett does not share my views on women, even if that person is the woman who created them both.

While I find the anti-Austen stance puzzling, I am consoling myself that at least you all have the good taste to dislike her writing solely on aesthetic grounds. When I was in college, I had all these neo-hippie friends who didn't like her because they just couldn't "identify" with all the upper crust British characters. Whatev.

Rather like hummus.

And now we're dissing hummus too? Is there no limit?!?

Because books.

I like Austen's stories and characters very much, generally. It's her style that bogs me down.

Hummus is delicious!
