Montana Lance, 9-Year-Old Texas Boy, Found Dead At Stewart's Creek Elementary School
Montana Lance, a 9-year-old boy from Texas, was found dead in a bathroom at Stewart's Creek Elementary School in The Colony, Texas, on Thursday, the Dallas Morning News reports.
...
While the medical examiner has not released an official cause of death, police have said it was an apparent suicide.
Lt. Darren Brockway told the Associated Press that the boy "had reportedly hung himself in a bathroom" and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Damn. Nine is pretty young for a suicide, huh?
Now I'm wondering how young one can be and still have the desire and ability to commit suicide....
I should get the larger pot for myself, which I can use for making MORE chili as well as making the regular amount of chili. Is my reasoning sound?
Fully sound, Chef Cow. Buy the biggie.

My fave is "3rdFloorAssholeSTFUOnYourBalcony." Or maybe "we can hear you having sex." There's also "wecanhearyouhavingsex," so that seems to be a popular one.
Then there's "GetOffMyLawn"...
I know a kid who attempted suicide when he was seven or eight.
Well, I didn't know him, I knew his sister. Her father is a friend and had gone to court to get her mother's shared custody revoked when she was four or five to get her out of a completely fucked up environment. Not before she was pretty thoroughly messed up, but not as bad as her brother ended up. (They had different fathers.) Ugh. So horrifying.
Crap, another lefty cafe in Evanston is closing. Wild Tree (on the corner of Davis and Oak) is closing due to bankruptcy. They just weren't doing well in this economy.
Oh, that sucks. I noticed the other day that the Mercury Cafe on Chicago is gone now too.
Is there really much surviving vintage clothing from the late 16th/early 17th centuries?
What Connie said. But a few years ago, one of the museums on the D.C. Mall had a special exhibit of vintage Ottoman robes from the era, and even further back. Some lovely garments, I might add.

Nine is the youngest I've heard of. But several stories have made the news of schoolkids bullied so severely that they committed suicide. One example of a 12-year-old.
It's been a tough week for leftiness in general. GOP senator elected in MA. Essentially all limits on corporate spending in elections lifted. Air America shutting down. Dems in disarray (well, okay that's just their normal state).

This galls me. I had an image of gleeful hogs squealing as they ran to the trough. Two of the worst decisions with the most far-reaching impacts were: (1) defining political contributions with free speech; (2) treating corporations as if they had individual rights.

Yeah, I probably wouldn't like this NSFW video half as much if it wasn't so appropriate this week. [link]
treating corporations as if they had individual rights.
You know, I'm not a lawyer, but it seems SO CLEAR that corporations don't get the same rights that individual citizens get. BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT PEOPLE.

Well, the silver lining to those 2 things are that now Dems don't have to kiss Lieberman's ass (though god knows they'll probably continue to do so), and -- because of the campaign funding clusterfuck -- I never have to donate to a political campaign again. Ever. Because what's the fucking point?
