"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

10 former child stars you'd sleep with today (they are all of age now, though I'd still feel squicky over a few.)

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

If Lily'a attached to it, that seems different to me. Less like projection/objectification, which bothers me. (I have personal issues about long-uncut hair and feminimity/submission, too - my father preferred it, and my proud rebellion at age 12 was to go pixie cut.)

Yeah, my mother didn't like having to detangle my hair, and thus I spent my childhood with a series of unflattering and ghastly hair cuts from the local cheap chain. And when I did want long hair, I was only allowed it if I had a mullet. So my issues around hair are kind of the opposite.

I mean, I'm sure Lillian's attachment comes in large part from people fawning over it, myself included, but it doesn't make the attachment any less real for her.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

OK, I have no idea what to do with this information. Anyone (Jesse?) able to tell me if this is an OK group? It looks like only one of the sites has any information on them. [link] Thanks.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I went at looked at syfy.com because I don't think I've seen that ad. It does look wrong. Possibly like her head is twisted around further than necks really twist. Possibly because her back has been shrunk. But not right.

That is one helluva headline, flea.

(Though I should state, in case it's not clear, the kid's mother's gone a wee bit over the top here.)

May I root against the New Orleans Saints?

No, you may not. Rooting against the Saints is like rooting against Elin Nordegren. They're the Sentimental Team of the Century; if Dick Enberg were calling the NFC championship game, he'd need a trailer truck of Kleenex. Even if you forget everything that New Orleans endured during Hurricane Katrina—and how could you?—they're the Saints, the former Aints, one of the most hard-luck franchises in the history of hard luck. Not long ago, newborns came into the world in New Orleans hospitals with tiny grocery bags on their heads.

If the Saints win this weekend, we expect the Louisiana Superdome to levitate off the ground, stop at Parkway Bakery & Tavern for a roast beef po'boy and fly straight to Miami for the Super Bowl.

The quote about the Vikings 4th down touchdown against the Cowboys is priceless as well.

Ha! I had not. That's great.

Eta: the description of Prince's skybox is also excellent.

Well, I don't know. They're Hare Krishnas, if you care about that, but I think that makes their financials look weird -- like they spend almost no money to provide zillions of meals? I'm not sure.

Huh. Salon has an article on the Russian ice dancing champs' aboriginal-themed routine. Makes me wince to watch it.
