Damn, I think I actually have to go to a doctor. This necessitates finding a general practitioner - I've been here a year and haven't bothered. I've been having terrible heartburn and acid reflux. I never ever had that before, and I haven't changed my eating habits. Right now, I'm hungry, but my esophagus is on fire and anything I eat is going to make it worse. Anyone have any remedies for heartburn that will last me until I can get to the pharmacy and score some Tums? Will milk help?

baking soda and water
teaspoon to 8 ounces of water
And prepare to burp a lot.
Gah, still so keyed up over stupid testing. Hopefully swim will relax me.
Hm. I don't have baking soda. Maybe I have some Alka-Seltzer, though.
I swear by milk to settle my stomach, but my Dr. says it can actually increase acid production.
Drinking water will help to dilute the stomach acids. And Pepto Bismol is great, if you have any.
If you're going to go the pharmacy, I would go for Zantac or Pepcid AC as well as Tums.
I drank the rest of the milk, which wasn't very much. Then I found the unopened box of Alka-Seltzer. Plop, plop, fizz, fizz. Am now waiting to see if I feel better. Was surprised that it didn't taste bad.
