We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I hope everyone's day improves and soon!

I've got my first day of the summer class tonight and get to take a half-day PTO (leave at 2:30 since I didn't get in until 10:30) so I can run some errands before school starts at 6:00. I only know of one dry cleaner who will take care of my cross-stitch pieces which is located in the town I used to live in (a few miles away from school), so I'll drop them off today and pick them up next Thursday.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Bah. Just wasted several hours of work trying to debug a .dll - turns out I was calling the wrong .dll.

Attention, drunk people: stay away from this gold-dispensing ATM

Once in a while, while intoxicated, you might end up taking a couple hundred dollars out of the ATM that you really shouldn't have. It's not great, but it's also not the end of the world. But if that ATM could dispense solid gold? Well, that opens the door for much more destructive mistakes.

In (where else?) Abu Dhabi's Emirates Palace, this ATM offers up gold coins up to 10 grams in size with customized deisgns whenever you want. It monitors the daily price of gold and adjusts its rates accordingly, so you know you're paying the proper price. And really, this is very convenient. I can't tell you how many times I've needed a hunk of gold at 1am and just couldn't find a place willing to sell it to me.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

So much work~ma for JZ.

I like the color of the first dress for you, Perkins, and ironing the pintucks isn't hard if you know the technique. But the second one is cuter.

Sorry, tommy. It's sounding contraindicated, kinda.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

It's a bit late for Mother's Day, but I just stumbled across A Biologist's Mother's Day Song. It's both nerdy AND tear-inducing!

Librarian Warlord

I am back from talking to the roofers and showing them the damage from the storm. Conversation was something like:

Me: This needs to be fixed.

Them: It's fine.

Me: This needs to be fixed.

Them: Fixing it will make a big mess.

(Lather, rinse, repeat)

Me: Are you willing to put that in writing and indemnify me and all future owners of this property for all current and subsequent repairs?

Them: Let me call the boss.

Big Boss shows up in person: Okay, we'll have it all fixed by the time you get home tonight.
