It won't help retrospectively, but if you use Firefox you can install this extension to provide a recovery option in the future. (Also available for Chrome).

Allyson's link didn't freak me out at all, even though the original goatse did. But I wonder - who would use that? I mean, you'd be kicked out of most cafes for pulling out your laptop, unless you sat facing a wall.
