he thinks it's time to due tracheal reconstruction and take the trache out.
Whoot! I know you're not believing yet, but still pretty awesome.
Barb, come to LA! We want our Barb time.
And and and... my sister has an African Grey parrot. He's sweet.

That's amazing for Grace!!!
Well there are several hoops to go through first and we have to make sure that she use the PMV to prove she can breathe through nose and mouth. And she needs her lung functionality checked.
Sigh. We're going to have to deal with the brat factor (doctor's words not ours).
Barb, does the Children's Books have YA? If not, I don't quite understand how it would make sense for you to network there.
In the past, they'd always included YA as part of their tracks, but it seemed as if they really placed more emphasis on Middle Grade books and Picture Books. However, in the past several years, with the increased interest in the genre, they've started adding more and more YA tracks, so it's a much more balanced conference from that standpoint.
If the book was already out, I'd probably be going to RWA, because I'm a known quantity there and the book skews so close to the adult end of the spectrum, but in terms of making my name a little more "known" in YA circles, it might not be a bad idea.
Plus... LAistas!
Oh, and YAY, Gracie! That's just phenomenal news!

Heh.
I guess I'm not at the yay point because there are too many unknowns, everything is conditional. And if we can't get ducks in a row before July he won't do it because then recovery will be too close to flu season.
Sigh.
So it either gets done in June or it gets done next year? That is a lot more stressful to contemplate.
Yes. There's a lot of stuff that has to line up for June to be workable. Not the least of which is getting her to use her stoopid PMV, which is a one-way valve. We have not been pushing its use because we have assumed that the stenosis she has needed to be cleaned up before she would be comfortable with the PMV. But no. It's just a Grace-hating-change issue.
I usually just call, so I am making up for the "not even a card" years.
Yeah, me too.
Wow, Gracie! Even as a possibility not a definite, that is an exciting prospect.
