'Day' is a vestigial mode of time measurement based on solar cycles. It's not applicable. I didn't get you anything.

Okay, is there really a need for multiple humorous African Grey parrot memoirs? This is mine: [link]

This is mine: [link]

And I suspect, given my experience with my mother's African Grey, that yes, there just might be multiple stories diverse enough to make it, perhaps not necessary, but at least, not completely unwarranted.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Cooking thread! I have three spears of asparagus to accompany my red snapper. How do I cook it? I have butter-like things. Don't I just put it in the oven or something?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Man, this week's Criminal Minds was rough.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Chop the woody ends off (about 1"), P-C, boil water with a little salt in it, pop the spears in for 4 minutes, and serve with a little melted butter with lemon and salt.

That's how I roll, anyway.

Ooh, I can do that. I have lemon juice, at least. Which sort of counts.

Or steam them. Lotta people like roasting, but I like the steam. Plain, with salt.

“Not dead yet!”

People! You need to help me decide!

The new site for RWA National was announced tonight: The Swan and Dolphin at Walt Disney Resorts.

::cue hysterical laughter::

Right, I move across the country and the conference finally winds up in Florida. In July.

Anyhow... I can go to National, as planned, and since it's now in Florida going early to Miami and leaving the kids with my mother. However, I'm not presenting a workshop, I'm not presenting at the awards, the book's not going to be out yet and I was really only going to get face time and network and talk up the new book. The other glitch in this is that if I take the kids, it's problematic, since they start camp on Monday, August 2nd, meaning I'd have to leave Nationals early in order to drive back to Miami and fly back to Seattle.

Or...

The Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators is also having their conference at roughly the same time.

In LA. The kids can stay at home, I don't have to be away for as long, and it's a much shorter trip within the same time zone, even.

Plus, it's children's publishing professionals, so if I'm going to network and talk the book up anyway, maybe it makes more sense to do it there? (Also, meet some local booksellers, like from Vroman's, etc?)

Bonus, F2F time with LAistas.

LA makes more sense, doesn't it?

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Man, this week's Criminal Minds was rough.

Rough how? Pig rough?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

How did I not realize that that was a picture of brenda's sister? I am dim. And possibly blinded by the Glory of Sloth. It's a very cute picture.
