there are very few cool heads in the comment threads.
I choose the stories I read comments on very carefully. Mostly to get a quick sense of how local mood is running on a particular story in the local papers. And even then I often abandon it quickly.
Argh. Landscaping co said I could leave a tarp and a cheque in my mailbox if I had to leave, but she neglected to tell me how much it would cost, which I neglected to catch since I was outside at the time, trying to figure out what was wrong with my mower...and now I am only getting their voicemail. TINOOOOO!
Even the comments to The Tennessean's flood wrap-up [link] include comments such as
Has Barack Hussein Obama been informed of the massive flooding in the Middle Tennessee area?
Has any reporter from the Tennessean.com or any other area reporter asked Phil Bredesen if he has been in contact with Barack Hussein Obama?
Do they think Barack Hussein Obama caused the middle Tennessee flooding? Like, he can control the weather now, too?
No, Pudge controls the weather.
Tony Stark controls the weather! It was in the FCBD comic.
Tony Stark controls the weather!
Ah ha! So it's the . . . is Iron Man a Democrat or Republican? I can't remember any political leanings from my old comic books. He was an alcoholic, but that doesn't really narrow it down.
