I had a lot of Canadian spellings from my parents that lasted until Firefox got the built-in spell check and my hate of the red squiggles beat them out of me.
Well, okay. Beat the autobackspace when doubling into me.

I thought the first syllable of mustache rhymed with muss. That's how everyone I know has said it. Or is that the Appalachian in me? (which is pronounced Appa-lay-chin, not Appa-lat-chin, I grew up there, I can say)

I always thought it was Appa-lay-chin, but then I saw a few documentaries on TV (one on PBS, one on the History Channel) that pronounced it Appa-lat-chin. So now I'm confused.
Timelies all!
Speaking of cos/zies, this weekend is Malice Domestic. (Ok, it's a convention focusing on traditional mysteries, but there is a good bit of overlap) Mmmm, books...
So now I'm confused.
I'm not sure if there's a reason for the change other than stylistic, or if there's some alleged linguistic reason. It's like how the stressed syllable in Caribbean changed from Care-a-BEE-an to Ca-RIB-bean.
I cling to the pronunciations of my youth.
I am ardently adding to the dictionary of my browsers. Soon they will be nigh useless.
But hey--Castiel doesn't get a red wiggly anymore either.
Apparently insurance is still pending approval of my charges for the k-hole, but I'm still supposed to check in on Monday. Way to go to not adequately resolve the status. Ah, well. I'll tell boss to mark those two days off my calendar, unless I do show up in the end.

Huh. I always heard Ca-RIB-be-an as a kid, but I've been hearing Car-a-BEE-an a lot more lately.
Just say West Indies and stay safe.
AppaLAYshin = north; AppaLATCHin = south. The dividing line seems to be about halfway into Virginia, from what I can tell.
But hey--Castiel doesn't get a red wiggly anymore either.
Mine had to learn that as well. The wiggly red line is my bane and I feel slighted when it doesn't comprehend a perfectly cromulent (whoops, have to add that one too) word.
