Shit's all sorts of different now.

President Obama is speaking at U of M's commencement on Saturday. The Secret Service has, apparently, arrived.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Welcome to the CSA collective, SuziQ. It's much tastier than the borg one.

I'm on my second week of splitting a CSA with amyth. And I've had salad as one meal per day, five days this week. Not a coincidence. While it's a big initial outlay, there's something nice about going up to the booth at the farmers' market (our pickup point), getting a big box of fresh veg, and walking away without ever opening your wallet.

Trust my rage

Suzi, what CSA did you go with? I found some cheaper than the original one I looked at but it only goes for 19 weeks instead of 26.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm so jealous of you people with spring CSAs. Mine doesn't start until June.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I am having schedule issues because I don't know if I'll be in the hospital next Monday and Tuesday. It's not weird to want to know that, eh? Jaysus. I have responsibilities, for crying out loud.

On the ohemgee really? front, I *think* my boss said he was going to HR to get me an offer, but I refuse to exhale on that one until it's official. It's just too big.

Is this what living in DC is like??

When you're lucky. Add in motorcades, random road closures, protestors, and tourists on most days.

Is this what living in DC is like??

Pretty much. That's why people say they know not only the best route to take from Point A to Point B based on time of day/rush hour status, but also time of year (Cherry Blossom Festival/# of tourists?) and whether or not the President/diplomats/various other time-wasting annoying convoys of limos and police cars and helicopters are going to be in town!

(Of course Xpost with Toddson!)

The ones I'm looking at don't start until June either. But I think amych's has already been producing.

eta: Which I realize now is probably what Jessica was talking about. The 26 week one I'm looking at goes until the end of December which I think is a bit odd, but cool.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Hi! Interview went well -- it was with the CTO for a small shop that makes corporate websites, and they're looking for a web developer/designer with pretty much the expertise that I have.

If they call me back, they'll give me a "test" where I spend a day at their office coding a faux project, so to show off my skills & problem solving. I said, quite honestly, that I'd like to work at a place where my fellow developers had passed a test like that.

(Programmers who interview better than they program are a real problem when nontechnical people do the interviewing, they tend to hire the glibbest.)

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Poop, I forgot to go to the Wednesday evening teeny farmer's market, and I'll be in Iowa this weekend.

ita, no, I think it's HIGHLY reasonable to want to know when you'll be in the hospital. Geez. And I hope your boss' statement comes true!
