"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

The notice has been on display for months at the local planning office.

No doubt right next to the notice about the discontinuation of town robo-calling.

But in the cellar...

Is it behind the door that says Do Not Enter? Or was it a chemical spill? I think there were leopards involved.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Tomato-basil tower. So gorgeous!

(Don't read the comments - who knew a tomato salad could start a political flame war?)

I dunno, it might all be worth it just for:

Last I checked this was 'supposely' a Democracy...

There’s no point in acting surprised about it. All the planning charts and demolition orders have been on display at your local planning department in Alpha Centauri for 50 of your Earth years, so you’ve had plenty of time to lodge any formal complaint and it’s far too late to start making a fuss about it now. … What do you mean you’ve never been to Alpha Centauri? Oh, for heaven’s sake, mankind, it’s only four light years away, you know. I’m sorry, but if you can’t be bothered to take an interest in local affairs, that’s your own lookout.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Argh argh. The other day, I got an email saying the place I want to work wants to bring me in to meet one more person, and someone would be in touch to schedule. Awesome, right? Except they haven't been in touch to schedule yet! And what they said to one of my references made it sound like this is the final step before an offer, so I'm especially anxious about it all.

Keep breathing!

I come to the board for my daily dose of reading fun and witty Buffista remarks and find out some people think I'm a troll! Not a troll - and my deepest thanks to those who stuck up for me in my absence. Time-challenged: hell yeah. Passionate about politics: hell yeah. Coming to issues from a different place than some of you: hell yeah to the Nth.

Takeaway: I'll try to be more engaged when it's not politics. People here should have more reasons to love me or hate me than a couple of posts about politics. smile

I'd forgotten about stors! Good times, good times.

Edited to say: Erikaj, apology accepted. Thank you.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I was going to ask my boss if I could take a half-day PTO this afternoon, but she called me about 30 minutes ago to tell me that our Chicago office (the one she works out of most of the time, including today) currently has a fire in its generator room, so everyone is stuck in the parking lot while the fire and police depts show up.

So much for me getting out of work early.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Also, how awesome is Zappos, still? I already have the Erin shoes! And they are great!

Holy crap, Jesse! I was just coming here to report on my first day's wearing, and encourage you to buy! (They are v. comfy, btw)
