I remember the same kind of drama after the summer olympics in 08.
I assumed that this rescinded medal was from Beijing since there was so much chatter about the age of a couple of their gymnasts.

Listen, my last recruiter had no idea what salary I made at previous job. She knew my skillset and she priced me accordingly. Current company did not need to know they effectively gave me a 40% raise.
So much this. I was pretty careful about not stating my salary at my last job change, because when I took that initial job I was trying to break back in and felt reasonably sure I was being underpaid. The offer I got was considerably higher (though not 50%!). That was also the first one where I actually negotiated, because at my prior two or three positions I'd always felt like I screwed myself not having the confidence to do that.
And the thing is, anything more you get upfront is like compound interest. The extra 5k I got then is an extra 5k I get every year, and any new increases are based on that higher number. (Especially nice since a couple of years later we weren't getting raises at all.)
They started investigating the gymnast from the Sydney games again when she applied to be an official of some sort at the Beijing games, and the date of birth on the forms that she submitted with that application would have made her just 14 when she competed in Sydney.
I'm planning on watching it, hoping it is Harper's Islandesque.
Ditto.

Exactly.
One of the huge downsides of my current job is the salary, and in my current position there is not a lot of room to negotiate (there are ranges for this position, even if we weren't in a serious budget crisis with no hiring and no raises). But if I go up for a librarian position when we can hire again, I am SO asking for a lot more money. The salaries here are really low even when compared to other public universities in similar COL areas.

Seems very much so, so far. Not the same creators or writers, though.
And Sam Neill and MC Gainey are in it, too.
Things I need to be doing:
Packing
Making something with some of the masses of veggies in my fridge that can freeze before I go away
Fridge cleanout
Work stuff
Laundry
Paying bills
What I am doing:
Drinking a beer and watching Criminal Minds.
This will not end well.
The current salary thing is a real issue for me because I got screwed on the salary for this job. It's not a real comparison because it's a big leap to go to professional school from undergrad, and it's a different area.
If that doesn't, Christopher bought the kids bubble gum. Bubble. Gum.
This won't end well.
Scissors, bangs.
I will note that Emmett has mastered the rare bubble-inside-a-bubble trick which Matilda (and I) find fascinating.
